Full Story

Mary operates as a Press Officer in an international listed company. She is in charge of media monitoring and daily press review editing.

The range of monitored themes includes a number of companies together with citations of top managers, brands and competitors related to the company activities.

All day long Mary needs to be alerted in real time when a topic of interest is found in the media. She needs the exact time and channel where the hit was found, together with the radio/video sequence and the transcript text with highlighted keywords. She handles the media clips depending on the importance, and she may find it interesting to forward and/or to download only a part of the record, e.g. forward a relevant 20-seconds-clip to her CEO.

Each morning Mary needs all alerts of the last 24 hours compiled to create a lively press review.

Implementation with eMM

Creating Profiles

Mary has set up different profiles in eMM's system, using keywords and combinations of keywords.

She can set up and change her queries independently, at any time, and can immediately view results for modified profiles from the last 24 to 36 hours.

Create a new profile

To organize her Profiles, she has defined Profile Groups for each company.

She can create as many Profiles and Profile Groups as she wants, and modify and delete them according to her instant needs.

Having the possibility to manage the monitoring independently is of great relevance for all bigger companies, as this is a guarantee for quick response and confidentiality.

Creating Channel Groups

Mary has defined a specific media coverage list according to the geographical operations of her company.

Create a new channel group in the Channel Group Editor

Mary can assign a channel group to a profile. This helps her for example to count the exact number of hits resulting of a specific PR action that has been conducted by her company in a specific country or region.

She can scale the monitoring dynamically, according to her deep knowledge of company activities. The global coverage offered by eMM helps her saving time and money, avoiding the need to deal with different local providers.

Getting Results

All day long Mary receives alerts in real time in the press office mailbox when a hit is found on radio or TV (see Features - Real-Time Alerts).

Example: automated content alert

The e-mail contains the first image frame, date, time, channel and transcript text with search keywords highlighted. Mary can either click on the picture or on the channel name to view the video, and she can forward the e-mail.

All the received mentions are also listed in eMM's system on her personal Recent Clips page. Each result is illustrated with the first picture frame of the video sequence, respectively a microphone for radio stations and gives her direct access to the radio or TV content (see Features - Search Results).

Every morning Mary compiles the alerts of the previous 24 hours and issues an electronic press review. She uses the texts and the downloaded clips to create a lively press review.

Viewing Clips

Mary can decide for each alert according to its emergency level to forward it immediately to the people concerned, to edit it and create her own clip, or to download and store it for later use (see Features - Edit Clips).

To review, edit and save one of the clips, Mary simply clicks on the image or on the headline, the "Media View" window will open and the clip will start to play automatically.

Media View window showing a clip

Mary may find it useful to forward and/or to download only a part of the record.

For instance, she does not have to bother her CEO with a 5 minutes video when only the last 20 seconds are relevant to him.

She uses the function "Make My Clip" which allows her to define start and end to create the desired clip.

Editing Clips

Each clip is immediately available to Mary, without having to worry to exceed her budget each time she needs a video, and without having to order an item from her provider and wait for it to be delivered: everything is at her disposal.

Define a clip following a few easy steps

To create a clip, Mary follows these easy steps:

  1. To start the video clip in the left video player, either click on a picture frame or into the time line.
  2. Click the button "Set Start" to define the start of the clip.
  3. The video will continue to play until you click the button "Set End" to define the end of the clip. If you want to create a very long clip, you can click on a picture frame or into the time line and then the button "Set End" to define the end of the clip.
  4. To see the preview of your clip, click the button "Try My Clip".
  5. The length of the created clip will be shown below the button "Try My Clip".
  6. The small arrows help you to fine-tune the start time.
