Project VISION+

Integrating Visual Information with Independent Knowledge: every second humans deal with enormous amounts of visual information; the goal in Computer Science is to reproduce the human information processing.

eMM and the best Austrian researchers in Computer Vision embark on a multi-million investment in enhancing technologies. Within the next 3 years, the consortium of this research project aims to investigate new systems and possibilities in this field in order to meet state-of-the-art requirements.

eMM will enlarge its media monitoring service with an enhanced image recognition algorithms.

COMET
The Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG is responsible for the management of COMET (Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies). There are now 56 COMET Competence Centers and projects located throughout Austria, presenting excellent examples of an innovative technology promotion policy. The COMET Competence Center Vienna is a symbiosis of economy and science in Vienna. The project is sponsored by the Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology and the Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth, which are following up on the success of their previous Competence Center programs, and the COMET program is available for download here. For further information visit the corresponding website on www.ffg.at.

Vision+
The project Vision+ offers the space required by cooperative research to generate new ideas. Project description: imaging sensors are widely used in both industry and daily life. These sensors capture images, then use special-purpose image-processing algorithms to evaluate them and trigger the appropriate reaction according to the task. Objective: the objective of Vision+ is to close the gap between unsolved problems and existing technological capabilities. To do this, the project uses such supplemental sources of information as multimodal sensors, space and time-dependent analyses and human interactions. The growing importance of imagingsensors is especially pronounced in industrial quality assurance and in biometrics. Computer-supported evaluations and archiving of imaging data constitutes a major source of support in automated media analysis, as already being offered by eMM.
